The Republic of Bénin and the Kingdom of Morocco have expressed mutual satisfaction with the progress of their bilateral cooperation, reaffirming their shared commitment to deepen and diversify it further.
During preparatory discussions ahead of the joint leadership of the seventh session of the Morocco-Bénin Joint Cooperation Commission, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Residents Abroad, Nasser Bourita, alongside Bénin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Afro-descendant integration, Corinne Amori Brunet, and the Delegated Minister for Resource Mobilization and Debt Management, Hugues Oscar Lokossou, highlighted significant advancements across key cooperation areas since His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s visit to Cotonou in June 2004.
The talks centered not only on assessing the current state of bilateral relations but also on exploring fresh avenues to inject renewed momentum into the partnership. Both sides underscored the deep, longstanding friendship and mutual respect between their nations, as well as the strong rapport between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Bénin’s President Romuald Wadagni. They also reiterated their ambition to shape Bénin-Morocco relations into an exemplary model of inter-African collaboration, rooted in solidarity, exchange, and mutual benefit.
Key sectors identified for expanded cooperation include economy, trade, industry, investments, tourism, agriculture, justice, security, vocational training, higher education, scientific research, health, digital innovation, and culture. Both delegations emphasized the critical role of the private sector in driving economic exchanges and mobilizing resources to support development initiatives.
