Benin coup plot: fleeing plotters still at large as hostages freed

Following a day of turmoil on Sunday, when soldiers stormed the national broadcaster to declare they had overthrown President Patrice Talon, the Head of State reassured the nation Sunday evening that the crisis was «fully under control».

While the ringleaders of the foiled coup attempt in Benin remain at large, authorities continue their manhunt. However, all hostages—including high-ranking military officers—have been safely released. Meanwhile, neighboring countries in West Africa are rallying to provide logistical and military support to stabilize the situation.
