Côte d’Ivoire’s digital education transformation takes center stage at JOURIE 2026
Abidjan, July 21, 2026 — The nation’s educational landscape is undergoing a digital revolution as the Journées ouvertes pour l’utilisation de la recherche et de l’innovation en éducation (JOURIE 2026) launched today at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training (MENAET), the event runs under the banner: “Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for quality schools.”
The two-day conference, concluding tomorrow, aims to elevate the culture of educational research while showcasing groundbreaking pedagogical innovations. By leveraging digital solutions, the initiative seeks to enhance teaching quality across Côte d’Ivoire’s schools, colleges, high schools, and universities.
Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategies, Planning, and Statistics (DESPS), emphasized that JOURIE 2026 serves as a vital platform for collective reflection on how scientific research and technological advancements can reshape educational institutions. “This gathering underscores our commitment to bridging the gap between research outcomes and policy decisions,” he stated. “We must ensure public policies are built on robust data and rigorous analysis to drive meaningful change.”
The director highlighted the ministry’s vision to position digital tools as catalysts for equity, performance, and excellence in education. “This year’s theme reflects our belief that technology is not merely an accessory but a strategic driver for building a fairer, more inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian education system,” Dr. Meité added.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kouadio Kouman, Technical Advisor representing the Minister of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training, reinforced the government’s dedication to evidence-based educational reforms. “JOURIE 2026 exemplifies our approach to embedding research and innovation at the heart of educational governance,” he noted. “The digital transformation agenda is not just about tools—it’s about creating opportunities for every learner to thrive.”
Mr. Kouman also stressed that the event fosters collaboration among researchers, educators, innovators, policymakers, and development partners. Together, they will explore critical themes such as governance, infrastructure, inclusion, and teacher training to shape the future of Ivorian education.
