François Silibi formally commenced his tenure at Bénin’s National Assembly this Friday, July 10, 2026. He steps into the parliamentary role previously held by Louis Vlavonou, who transitioned to the Senate as an ex-officio member, a position granted due to his prior service as President of the National Assembly.

The official installation ceremony for the newly sworn-in deputy took place following a plenary session at the esteemed Palace of Governors in Porto-Novo earlier today.
Born in 1982, François Silibi brings a background as an English professor to his new legislative duties. Hailing from Ifangni, the same locality as his predecessor Louis Vlavonou, he is now set to represent this constituency throughout the 10th legislature. His formal installation solidifies his status as a deputy in the National Assembly, where he will serve the remainder of the term left open by Louis Vlavonou, a mandate scheduled to conclude in February 2033.
As the former alternate for the previous President of the National Assembly, François Silibi marks his official entry into parliamentary life. His elevation comes as a direct result of the resignation of the retired customs officer, Louis Vlavonou, who is slated to assume his seat in the upper chamber as an ex-officio member starting July 30.
