Across Senegal, from the vibrant Dakar coastline to the historic Gorée Island, and stretching from the airport highway to remote rural communities, tens of thousands of solar-powered streetlights now illuminate the nation. This specific sector is largely spearheaded by two prominent French enterprises: Ragni, a family-owned business hailing from the Alpes-Maritimes region, and Fonroche, an SME headquartered in Agen. These firms represent just a fraction of the 340 French companies actively operating within the country’s borders.
While major French conglomerates such as Orange, TotalEnergies, Auchan, and Eiffage have a long-standing and well-recognized presence across West Africa, it’s the smaller and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are increasingly identifying significant growth prospects within this dynamic market.
