Gabon’s transitional leader, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has arrived in France for a three-day state visit, marking his second official trip abroad since assuming office. The visit underscores efforts to deepen strategic ties between Libreville and Paris across key sectors.

Discussions will center on strengthening economic cooperation, with a focus on investments, infrastructure development, energy transition, industrialization, and cultural exchanges. The Gabonese delegation, led by the head of state, includes business leaders, government officials, and media representatives.

During high-level talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, both leaders are expected to address critical bilateral issues. Among them is Gabon’s push to end raw manganese exports by 2029, a move aimed at boosting local processing and maximizing economic benefits.

Military cooperation will also feature prominently on the agenda. The two presidents are likely to discuss the future of Camp De Gaulle, France’s military base in Libreville, amid ongoing adjustments to Paris’ military footprint in Africa. French troop numbers in Gabon have dwindled from roughly 1,200 to about 100 in recent years.
