Dr Bacary Thior announced his resignation from the Primature shortly after Ousmane Sonko concluded his term as Prime Minister.

In a statement released this week, the former Technical Advisor for Health explained his decision was made “in accordance with my principles.”

“Following the conclusion of Mr. Ousmane Sonko’s duties as Prime Minister, I have decided to leave the Cabinet, in line with my principles,” he stated.

Dr Bacary Thior emphasized that his commitment to public service remains unwavering, noting he stands ready to contribute wherever his expertise is needed. He also confirmed his continued support for Ousmane Sonko, who currently leads both the Pastef party and the National Assembly.

In his farewell message, he extended gratitude to his colleagues while acknowledging any shortcomings and offering forgiveness for any oversights.
