Three Senegalese supporters, previously detained in Morocco following incidents at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), touched down at the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass on Thursday evening. Abdoulaye Dieng, Ibrahima Diop, and Aziz Wade arrived at 6:25 PM aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd eager to celebrate their return.
The trio were among 18 supporters arrested during the AFCON final between Senegal and Morocco. They faced charges of hooliganism, including public disorder, projectile throwing, property damage, and assaulting law enforcement officers. After serving a three-month prison sentence, they were released on April 18th.
Fifteen other supporters remain in Morocco, with their sentences ranging from six months to one year in prison. Their eventual return to Senegal will depend on the completion of their respective sentences.
