The Tchad government and the United Nations system have wrapped up a pivotal session in the capital, N’Djamena, marking the conclusion of the 2024-2026 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) cycle. The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Tahir Hamid Nguilin, the Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, alongside Dr François Batalingaya, the UN Resident Coordinator.
The gathering brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, UN agency representatives, technical and financial partners, as well as civil society and private sector leaders. The session served a dual purpose: assessing the progress of the current cooperation cycle and launching preparatory discussions for the next 2027-2030 framework.
Tahir Hamid Nguilin underscored the robustness of Tchad‘s partnership with the UN, highlighting the strategic importance of the meeting. He reiterated the government’s vision outlined in the Tchad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan, which aims to foster a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous nation. Key priorities include human capital development, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.
« This steering committee session reflects our shared commitment to aligning UN interventions with Tchad‘s national priorities. By validating the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for 2027-2030, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind, » he stated.
Dr François Batalingaya echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strength of joint efforts during the current cycle. « As we close this chapter, our focus shifts to the future. The upcoming UNSDCF 2027-2030 will embody a renewed ambition to meet Tchad‘s financing needs and aspirations, » he noted.
The discussions revolved around key takeaways from the 2024-2026 cycle and strategic priorities for 2027-2030, with a focus on development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The future cooperation framework will be closely aligned with the Tchad Connexion 2030 plan.
