Chad examines two-year progress of presidential program

N’Djaména hosted a pivotal technical validation workshop last week, as the General Secretariat of the Government scrutinized the biennial report on the President’s flagship program. Running from June 2 to 5 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, the event brought together key stakeholders to assess progress made between May 2024 and May 2026.

The four-day session kicked off with an opening address by Dr. Ramatou Mahamat Outouin, Secretary-General of the Government, who framed the exercise as more than just a procedural review. She emphasized its role in holding the administration accountable to the people of Chad, aligning with President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s vision of responsive governance.

« This isn’t about reviewing a document—it’s about measuring our delivery on commitments to the nation, » she stated, underscoring the administration’s pledge to transparency and citizen trust. The workshop served as a platform to dissect achievements, identify gaps, and recalibrate strategies to better serve rural farmers, educators, and entrepreneurs across the country.

Dr. Outouin acknowledged the collective effort behind the report, noting, « Every statistic reflects the dedication of teams who worked tirelessly to present an accurate picture of our progress. » She cautioned against superficial assessments, urging participants to confront challenges head-on rather than seeking hollow praise. « Our goal isn’t self-congratulation—it’s constructive accountability, » she asserted, urging a balanced discussion on both successes and shortcomings.

The workshop concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to governance rooted in integrity. « This document must capture the unfiltered reality: the strides we’ve made and the work that lies ahead, » she said, formally inaugurating the technical review process.
