Key responsibilities during the 81st session

During this term, Gabon will oversee several essential functions, including chairing plenary sessions—both ordinary and high-level. The country will also lead the UN‘s agenda, ensuring smooth coordination of global priorities. As a member of the influential General Committee, Gabon will be instrumental in:

  • Allocating agenda items for discussion,
  • Orchestrating critical voting processes on global resolutions,
  • Managing institutional priorities to align with the UN‘s long-term objectives.

In addition, Gabon will collaborate closely with fellow member states to champion the African Group‘s priorities, including sustainable development, climate action, and institutional reforms within the UN.

This achievement reflects the strategic vision of Gabon‘s President, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who has consistently emphasized the importance of international cooperation and Africa’s role in global governance.
