The spokesperson for Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, issued a robust denial over the weekend regarding allegations of a plot to destabilize the Central African Republic (CAR) allegedly originating from N’Djamena.
Chadian diplomacy condemned the accusations as part of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing Chad’s reputation and straining its relationship with its neighbor, the Central African Republic.
In a stern statement, the ministry rejected these maneuvers outright, urging those responsible to act with integrity and calling on media outlets and social media users to rely solely on verified facts.
Chad has never, does not, and will never engage in any subversive activities against a neighboring brother nation,
emphasized the country’s Foreign Affairs Department, reinforcing its commitment to regional stability and mutual respect.
President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno places immense value on upholding sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference, asserting that the stability of the entire subregion is intrinsically linked to Chad’s own security.
The nation has frequently faced accusations from other Central and East African states, which allege Chad’s involvement in destabilizing efforts on behalf of various armed groups operating across borders. These claims notably include links to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), currently engaged in conflict with Sudan’s military since April 15, 2023.
