Chad will take center stage as the guest of honor during the military and civilian parade commemorating the 54th edition of Cameroon‘s National Day, set for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across all regions of the country.
Known locally as the Unity Day, this national celebration honors the country’s unity and stands as one of the most significant events in Cameroon’s institutional and patriotic calendar. For 2026, the official theme is “National unity: the backbone of our defense and the foundation of Cameroon’s development.”
The main event in Yaoundé will feature a grand parade showcasing the country’s defense and security forces, school contingents, youth organizations, and representatives from diverse sectors of society. Similar festivities will unfold nationwide, ensuring every Cameroonian community participates in the celebrations.
The Ministry of Youth has unveiled key innovations for this year’s observance. Highlights include a nationwide cultural diversity carnival and a week-long decentralization of events, designed to bring the festivities closer to local populations and foster greater national inclusivity.
