Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, marking a landmark moment in the Premier League transfer window.
The Blues announced on Tuesday evening that Rogers, aged 23, has committed to Stamford Bridge until 2033, joining first-team manager Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the new campaign. The young forward arrives with a reputation as one of England’s most promising attacking talents, fresh off a standout season in the Premier League.
During his time at Aston Villa, Rogers played a pivotal role in the club’s resurgence. His contributions included 12 goals and 14 assists across 85 Premier League appearances, helping the Villans secure a fourth-place finish and ultimately lift the Europa League trophy last season. His consistency has also earned him a permanent spot in the England national team, where he has made 22 appearances since his debut in November 2024 and featured prominently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England finished third.
With a reported transfer fee of £117 million (approximately €138 million), Rogers becomes Chelsea’s second-most expensive signing in club history and the second-biggest deal in Premier League history, trailing only Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool for £125 million last summer.
The race to sign Rogers was intense, with Arsenal initially leading the chase before Chelsea swooped in to secure the player’s signature. The Blues celebrated the deal on social media, posting a video of Rogers with the caption “He chose Chelsea.”
As the new season approaches, Rogers is expected to bring creativity, flair, and goal-scoring prowess to a Chelsea side aiming to reclaim its place among England’s elite clubs.
