In a statement from its Directorate, the group argues that power has been hijacked, sidelining the « true architects of the March 25, 2024, patriotic revolution. » The document further warns that this shift directly targets Sonko, whom it describes as the « guiding force behind the revolution. »
This interpretation aligns closely with the rhetoric recently adopted by Ousmane Sonko in his doctrinal speeches. During the Diamniadio congress, he introduced the concept of the « popular bloc, » emphasizing that while citizens can seize power, sustaining and transforming the state remains a greater challenge. The CODES now fully embraces this perspective, framing the defense of the Project as a national imperative.

The organization is urging broad mobilization, urging Senegal’s youth and all citizens to rally behind Sonko and safeguard the Project. In an appeal to democratic forces, it urges them to « return by the hundreds, thousands, and millions » to the ranks of Pastef-Les Patriotes to ensure the Project’s success, as stated in the communiqué.
This call for unity comes at a time when Sonko has intensified nationwide mobilization efforts ahead of upcoming elections. His recent visit to Mbacké saw him urge local leaders to set aside internal divisions in preparation for the 2029 presidential race. The merger of CODES with Pastef contrasts sharply with recent defections within the party, where several key figures have abandoned its ranks to align with the President’s agenda, highlighting the deepening polarization within Senegal’s political landscape.
