The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a key political party within Gabon’s ruling coalition, has expressed strong appreciation for the extensive efforts led by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the party highlighted the intense national development initiatives carried out throughout August.
Evaluating progress under President Oligui Nguema
In its declaration titled “From action to results,” the political organization commended the administration’s latest healthcare directives, the President’s hands-on approach across different regions, and the tangible progress delivered to various provinces.
Focus on healthcare and provincial development
A major highlight is the 55 billion CFA francs funding package announced in Makokou for the medical sector. This financial injection allocates 44 billion CFA francs to upgrade medical equipment nationwide, 6 billion CFA francs to resume catering services in hospitals, and an additional 5 billion CFA francs to bolster the National Health Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM emphasized that these measures directly address the critical needs of citizens and insisted on their swift implementation.
Expanding infrastructure and housing projects
Beyond healthcare, the political group pointed to several newly established administrative, commercial, military, and medical facilities in Grand Libreville. Additionally, 17 structural initiatives were launched in the Ogooué-Ivindo region during the Independence and Liberation festivities in Makokou. The party also highlighted the Mayiga residential project, where 50 homes are complete, 25 are being built, and 500 plots are planned, aiming to spread economic growth far beyond Libreville.
Transitioning from promises to proof
Reflecting on the national celebrations, the RPM endorsed the President’s own philosophy that the era of declarations must transition into an era of tangible evidence. The party stressed that the ultimate measure of any public policy is its direct, positive influence on the daily lives of the Gabonese population.
The statement also welcomed the diplomatic engagement in Libreville with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, which resulted in three bilateral cooperation agreements.
A committed political partner
Moving forward, the RPM urges the administration to maintain this momentum, ensuring the long-term viability of new infrastructure and prioritizing employment opportunities for young people. Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM allied with the coalition backing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for the April 12, 2025 presidential election while maintaining its independent political identity. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
