Gabon is taking steps to protect its marine resources, with public consultations underway for the country’s national marine zone planning project.
The government has initiated a series of public meetings to present the plan and gather feedback from local communities, stakeholders, and experts.
During these consultations, officials have outlined the vision for sustainable management of Gabon’s marine resources, including protection of critical habitats such as mangroves.
Experts will also identify areas for traditional fishing, migration corridors, and climate resilience spaces in the provinces of Estuaire, Nyanga, and Ogooué-Maritime by July 19th.
