ivory coast reaffirms unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity
The Republic of Ivory Coast has once again expressed its firm backing for the Kingdom of Morocco’s full territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the Sahara region, following high-level diplomatic talks in Rabat.
During a working visit to Morocco, Ivory Coast’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nialé Kaba, held constructive discussions with her Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita. The meeting concluded with a joint communiqué reaffirming Abidjan’s consistent stance in alignment with Rabat’s position on the Sahara issue.
diplomatic solidarity strengthens Morocco’s regional position
The Ivorian delegation highlighted the critical importance of the recent United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which endorses Morocco’s autonomy plan as the most credible and viable framework for a lasting solution to the regional dispute. The resolution’s adoption was warmly welcomed, reinforcing Morocco’s diplomatic leverage.
Ivory Coast also underscored its commitment to bilateral relations by recalling the 2020 opening of a consulate general in Laâyoune, a move that symbolizes the deep economic and political ties between the two nations. This gesture further cemented the strategic partnership built on mutual trust and South-South cooperation.
In response, Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita conveyed his country’s gratitude for Ivory Coast’s steadfast support. He emphasized the exceptional depth of the Morocco-Ivory Coast relationship, praising the shared vision that continues to drive their collaboration forward.
a growing chorus of international recognition
The latest endorsement from Ivory Coast follows a series of similar declarations by other African and global partners. This wave of diplomatic support underscores the increasing momentum behind Morocco’s autonomy initiative, positioning it as the most widely accepted path toward resolving the decades-long conflict.
The joint statement marks another milestone in Morocco’s efforts to secure international backing for its territorial integrity, particularly in the Sahara region. With Ivory Coast’s renewed commitment, Morocco’s diplomatic position has been further strengthened on the global stage.
