Mali Restores Diplomatic Ties with Algeria, Reopens Airspace

The government of Mali announced on Friday the return of its ambassador to Algeria and the reopening of its airspace for flights from and to Algeria.

According to a statement by the Malian government, ‘in the context of the relaunch of the dynamics of cooperation and friendship between the Republic of Mali and the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria,’ the decision was made to return the ambassador to Algeria.

The statement also noted that ‘the airspace of Mali is now open to all civil and military aircraft operating flights from or to Algeria.’

This move comes just hours after Algeria announced the reopening of its airspace for Malian flights, marking a new stage in the normalization of relations between the two countries.
