Rabat hosted a significant event marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Vietnam. Organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom and the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, the celebration highlighted decades of cooperation.
Honoring a legacy of peace and friendship
A central feature of the event was the opening of a thematic exhibition titled “President Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of Peace and International Friendship.” Open until June 26, the display explores the life of the Vietnamese national liberation hero, focusing on his dedication to independence and global harmony.
The festivities, supported by the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association and the President Ho Chi Minh Commemorative Site, also included a seminar. Participants discussed ways to deepen bilateral ties across various sectors, including diplomacy, economics, academia, and culture.
A shared history of freedom
During the opening session, Mustapha El Ktiri, the High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters, emphasized the strategic and historical importance of the bond between Morocco and Vietnam. He noted that the celebration reflects the shared journey of two nations that have navigated historical challenges guided by a mutual desire for liberty and common values.
Mustapha El Ktiri, who also leads the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association, pointed to symbolic landmarks of this shared memory. He recalled the 2022 inauguration of the Vietnam Gate in Kenitra, which stands as a twin monument to the Morocco Gate in Ba Vi, bridging the two nations across generations and continents.
Strengthening economic and cultural exchange
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco, Le Kim Quy, expressed satisfaction with the tangible growth of bilateral relations. She highlighted the increase in high-level visits and meetings in recent years as evidence of mutual trust and a shared commitment to a strategic partnership.
Economic cooperation has seen significant progress, with trade volumes reaching 390 million dollars in 2025. This positive trend also extends to education, cultural initiatives, and decentralized cooperation between local authorities in both countries.
The day concluded with the inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh Library. This new resource center houses a collection of books in Arabic, English, and French, donated by the Ho Chi Minh Commemorative Site to the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters.
