The High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), led to a significant encounter in Rabat this Thursday. Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, responsible for National Defense Administration, met with France’s Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, Catherine Vautrin. The meeting was also attended by a high-ranking military official, the Army Corps General, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone.
France’s high-level delegation engages in strategic talks in Morocco
Catherine Vautrin is part of a prominent French delegation led by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, currently on an official working visit to Morocco. The visit coincides with the 15th High-Level Morocco-France Meeting, aimed at deepening and diversifying bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the discussions, both delegations signed a technical arrangement and a memorandum of understanding focused on bilateral defense industry cooperation, as confirmed by an official statement from the National Defense Administration.
Broadening horizons in military and regional collaboration
The two officials engaged in in-depth exchanges on bilateral and regional issues, exploring avenues to further strengthen and diversify Morocco-France military cooperation. A shared commitment emerged to solidify these ties through the implementation of legal instruments finalized during the 15th High-Level Meeting.
This landmark session brought together 22 ministers from both nations, co-chaired by Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and France’s Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu. The meeting resulted in the signing of eleven cooperation agreements spanning diverse fields, from the establishment of a Regional Express Rail (RER) line in Rabat to water resources and decentralization initiatives.
Strengthening a historic partnership
The 15th High-Level Morocco-France Meeting unfolds against a backdrop of exceptional partnership and deepening political ties. This milestone is further highlighted by France’s historic shift in stance, including official support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and recognition of Moroccan authority over its southern provinces.
