Ligue des champions: le dispositif pour la finale s’affine, il n’y aura pas de parade sur les Champs Élysées en cas de victoire
The evening of May 30th is slated to be exceptionally busy across the Parisian region. Alongside the Champions League final, numerous concerts are scheduled, anticipating an influx of 150,000 to 200,000 individuals into the city’s streets, whether for football, tennis events, or musical performances. This convergence necessitates a formidable security deployment by the Prefecture of Police to safeguard the capital. Indeed, the entire weekend presents a significant challenge for internal security forces.
Starting Friday evening at 5 PM, traffic will be restricted until Sunday morning within a broad security perimeter established by the Paris Police Prefecture, encompassing a significant portion of the 8th arrondissement. Parking prohibitions will be enforced in a more confined zone, covering the entirety of the Champs-Élysées and select avenues, such as Avenue Montaigne. These traffic restrictions also extend to other districts of the capital, including the 16th and 17th arrondissements. Pedestrian access, however, remains permitted.
Around the Parc des Princes, where Paris Saint-Germain is organizing a dedicated fan zone, law enforcement will implement a security framework typical of major match days. This enclosed and secure fan zone proved to be a resounding success during last year’s Champions League final festivities.
After the Champs-Élysées, is the Champ de Mars the new celebration venue?
As was the case last season, authorities are compelled to consider all possible outcomes during security planning meetings. Should PSG emerge victorious on Saturday night, officials are coordinating with the Parisian club to prepare for Sunday’s celebrations. Indications suggest that the traditional parade along the Champs-Élysées will not occur this year, a decision ultimately confirmed by the 8th arrondissement’s town hall. In 2025, these festivities attracted 110,000 people to the world’s most beautiful avenue. Behind the scenes, the 8th arrondissement’s municipal office had already conveyed this message to local business owners.
A different possibility is now emerging: the Champ de Mars, situated in the 7th arrondissement of the capital. “This option is under active consideration,” a well-informed source revealed, declining to elaborate further. It appears to be the preferred choice among all stakeholders. The Paris Police Prefecture intends to request traffic and parking restrictions around the Champ de Mars from Saturday, May 30th at 10 PM until Sunday, May 31st at 8 PM, to ensure “the smooth execution of a festive event.” If this plan is confirmed, following last season’s celebration at the Arc de Triomphe, a victory against Arsenal could see Luis Enrique’s players posing for a memorable photo with the iconic Eiffel Tower. This image is crucial for promoting France and PSG globally, playing a vital role in any post-victory celebrations.
When contacted, Paris Saint-Germain emphasized that the club is currently “fully focused on preparing the events organized for May 30th, the day of the Final.” The club also stated that “no decision has been made and no announcement is planned” regarding celebrations after Saturday night’s match in Hungary. “Should the need arise, organizational matters will be thoroughly coordinated with the relevant authorities,” the capital club affirmed.
