Senegal u17 team edges Tunisia in pre-can warm-up match

The Senegalese U17 national team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Tunisia in a friendly match held on Thursday at the Hammam Lif Municipal Stadium. The decisive goal was scored by forward Cheikh Omar Sy, providing a morale boost ahead of the upcoming African Nations Cup (CAN) U17 tournament.

The Lionceaux (Lion Cubs), as the team is affectionately known, will now travel to Morocco to continue their preparations for the competition, which kicks off on May 13. Their first group-stage match is scheduled for May 14 at 4:00 PM against South Africa.

The CAN U17 features four groups with the following lineups:

  • Group A: Morocco (title holders), Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia
  • Group B: Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Group D: Senegal, South Africa, Algeria, Ghana

The tournament runs from May 13 to June 2, 2026, with all matches hosted in Morocco.
