Senegal u17 triumphs over Tunisia in pre-can warm-up

The Senegalese U17 national team secured a hard-fought victory this Thursday in a friendly match against Tunisia. The Lionceaux of Lamine Sané claimed a 1-0 win at Hammam Lif Municipal Stadium, stepping up their preparations for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.

Under the guidance of their coach, Senegal lined up Assane Sarr in goal, donning the captain’s armband. The stopper from Ndangane FC—fresh off the UFOA A U17 title—stood between the posts alongside a defensive quartet of Cheikh Dieng, Cheikh Thior, Abdourahmane Dièye, and Thierno Sow. In midfield, Mahamet Ba, Sébastien Nogueira, and Ibrahima Sow worked to control the tempo, while Sega Fall Mbodji, Magueye Niang, and Cheikh Omar Sy spearheaded the attack.

The Senegalese side showed discipline at the back and precision up front, capitalizing on a single goal from Cheikh Omar Sy before the tournament kicks off. This morale-boosting win comes at a crucial moment as the team gears up for the Africa Cup of Nations. Drawn in Group D, Senegal will open their campaign on May 14 against South Africa, with kickoff set for 4:00 PM local time in Morocco.
