Tchad honors new generation of GEMIA military school cadets

The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) in N’Djamena celebrated a significant milestone today, marking the induction of its sixth cohort of Enfants de Troupe while honoring academic and leadership excellence.

Under the watchful eyes of high-ranking military and civilian officials, including General Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and the Deputy Chief of Staff Yangmmargue Beh Félix, the ceremony unfolded against the backdrop of a nation committed to nurturing its future leaders. Among the distinguished guests were defense attachés from allied nations, the Mayor of N’Djamena, and the Sultan of the city’s first arrondissement, alongside proud parents and alumni of the program.

The graduating class of 76 cadets, who joined the academy on October 6, 2025, underwent rigorous training designed to instill discipline, camaraderie, and resilience. Their transformation from recruits to full-fledged Enfants de Troupe was celebrated in a symbolic rite of passage. « Today, they shed the title of ‘Bleus’ to embrace their role as proud members of this elite corps, » declared the GEMIA commander.

The event underscored the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, who has consistently emphasized education as the cornerstone of Chad‘s progress. This philosophy is embodied in the school’s guiding principle: « Learn to build better, » anchored in values of honor, excellence, and national service.

Top performers were recognized for their dedication, with distinctions awarded to the class valedictorian, most exemplary students, and top athletes. The commander praised their achievements and urged them to sustain their momentum as they transition into active duty. He also called on alumni associations and partners to elevate the academy’s standards, positioning it as a model institution for military education in the region.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the parents, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in shaping the nation’s future leaders. Warm wishes for a restful break were extended to all personnel and cadets, marking a brief respite before their continued journey of service.
