Tchad opposition warns of political climate deterioration amid rising tensions

The political landscape in Chad is heating up as opposition voices amplify their concerns over the country’s evolving climate. In a press briefing held in N’Djamena this week, the party Les Patriotes—a member of the former Groupe de Concertation des Acteurs Politiques (GCAP)—raised alarms about what it calls an intensifying authoritarian stance within the government.

According to the party’s statement, recent judicial actions against several political figures have further strained the nation’s fragile stability. Les Patriotes also highlighted escalating security threats and deepening communal divisions, warning that these factors could undermine the nation’s fragile cohesion.

The timing of the announcement coincides with growing public unease, as citizens and observers alike question the direction of the current administration. While the government has yet to respond publicly, the opposition’s remarks underscore the urgency of addressing these pressing challenges before they spiral further out of control.
