Uber is officially broadening its reach in Morocco by launching its ride-hailing services in the cities of Agadir and Tangier. This strategic move is designed to support the country’s rapidly growing tourism industry and provide modern mobility solutions for both locals and international visitors.
Enhancing mobility for the 2030 World Cup
By establishing a presence in these key coastal hubs, the company is building on its successful operations in Casablanca and Rabat. This expansion comes at a pivotal time as Morocco prepares to host the 2030 World Cup, an event expected to draw massive global attention and increase the need for efficient transportation infrastructure.
The goal is to provide a seamless travel experience, allowing users to move easily between hotels, tourist attractions, and city centers. Through the mobile app, passengers in Agadir and Tangier can now choose between UberX and UberXL, ensuring flexible options for different group sizes and needs.
A booming tourism sector
The decision to expand follows a period of exceptional growth for the Moroccan tourism sector. In 2025, the kingdom welcomed a record-breaking 19.8 million visitors, marking a 14% rise compared to the previous year. This surge generated approximately 124 billion dirhams in revenue between January and November.
This upward trend shows no signs of slowing down. During the first three months of 2026, Morocco recorded 4.3 million arrivals, a 7% increase over the same period in 2025. With a national objective to attract 26 million visitors annually by 2030, the integration of reliable ride-sharing services is seen as a vital component of the country’s development strategy.
