The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the heinous terrorist attacks perpetrated by extremists linked to Al-Qaeda in Mali, which have occurred since April 25. The Council urged that those responsible for these acts of violence be brought to justice.
In a statement released on Friday, the Council underscored the critical necessity of holding the perpetrators, organizers, sponsors, and financiers of these atrocities fully accountable.
Mali is currently grappling with profound uncertainty following a series of unprecedented assaults on April 25 and 26. These attacks specifically targeted strategic positions held by the ruling junta, in power since 2020, and struck pivotal urban areas. Tragically, these recent events also resulted in the death of the country’s defense minister.
