Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, entrusted by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, embarked on an official visit to the Republic of Chad this Monday. The trip aims to strengthen fraternal bonds and deepen cooperation and partnership between the two nations, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
Leading a high-level delegation, Mr. Ghrieb is accompanied by Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development Abed Hallouz, as well as several executives from national companies active in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors.
Upon his arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, Head of Government Allamaye Halina, along with several members of the Chadian government and senior officials.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the two prime ministers held a bilateral working session during which they reviewed the progress of distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad. They exchanged views on ways to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation and expand its scope, reflecting the shared will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternity and cooperation to broader horizons serving the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.
Cornerstone of 40 MW power plant laid in N’Djamena
During the visit, the Prime Minister, alongside his Chadian counterpart, presided over the cornerstone-laying ceremony for an Algerian-Chadian solidarity electricity production plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts. This project will be carried out by Sonelgaz International as part of a grant from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the sister Republic of Chad, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It renews Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries while consolidating the values of African solidarity and cooperation through structural projects with direct economic and social impact.
The Prime Minister will also hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on prospects for strengthening the Algerian-Chadian partnership as well as key regional and African issues of mutual interest.
This official visit falls within the positive and growing dynamics of Algerian-Chadian relations, embodying the common will of the two countries’ leaders to raise bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
