Deputy Thierno Alassane Sall asserts that a confidential document, dated August 26, 2024, and bearing the signature of former Energy Minister Birame Souleye Diop, unequivocally exposes a significant breakdown at the highest echelons of the state. In a statement released across his social media platforms, the leader of the République des Valeurs party contends that this specific confidential note from August 26, 2024, endorsed by then-Energy Minister Birame Souleye Diop, serves as “irrefutable proof of state deception.”
Thierno Alassane Sall further claims that the head of government was made aware, at an early stage, of the various irregularities surrounding the operational management of the Agence Sénégalaise d’Électrification Rurale (ASER). Within his published communiqué, the parliamentarian declares that “Ousmane Sonko’s responsibility is now overwhelming,” adding that “the document, which has been circulating for several days, confirms that the Prime Minister was informed as early as August 2024 about the alleged diversion of the startup advance, a portion of which was evidently used to compensate SONAC bonuses, according to the minister.”
The deputy sharply criticizes the government’s perceived inaction despite critical warnings raised concerning this case, prior to the intervention of financial partners and regulatory bodies. In his written address, Thierno Alassane Sall poses a direct question: “Not only did Prime Minister Sonko disregard this crucial alert, but he also orchestrated an ‘Omerta’ by declaring ‘zero ASER scandal.’ To shield whom?”
Furthermore, the parliamentarian highlights that the leakage of this correspondence “reinforces the classification of criminal association, as identified by the Financial Judicial Pool,” affirming that “this matter represents a crucial test for the justice system and for the commitment to ‘Jub Jubal Jubbanti’ so widely proclaimed by the executive branch.”
