Bujumbura has become the focal point this weekend for a series of crucial consultations concerning the political landscape in the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC). These high-level discussions were initiated by Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, who also serves as the current Chairperson of the African Union.
Distinguished members of the C64 opposition coalition’s presidium have arrived in the Burundian capital. Among them are Martin Fayulu, Delly Sesanga, Dieudonné Bolengetenge, Jean Marc Kabun, and Francklin Tshiamala. They are scheduled to meet with President Ndayishimiye as part of these important dialogues.
Religious leaders are also actively participating in these exchanges. Archbishop Ejiba Yamapia, president of the Platform of Religious Confessions and Revival Churches in the RDC, is present. He is joined by official delegations representing both the Catholic Church and the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC).
These comprehensive consultations in Bujumbura are bringing together both the political opposition and the nation’s leading religious denominations from the RDC, all focused on addressing and resolving the country’s pressing political crisis.
