Abidjan – A new political entity, christened Alternative Crédible (ACR), which aims to offer a fresh approach to national governance, was officially introduced to the press by its leadership on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a conference held in Grand-Bassam.
Oxyde Tano, the National Executive Secretary of ACR and the primary speaker at the event, articulated the core principles, aspirations, and strategic vision of this nascent political force. The movement positions itself as a robust response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. Tano elaborated that the initiative first took shape on December 1, 2025. It emerged from the collective resolve of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds, all united by a commitment to introduce an innovative method of political engagement within Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Mr. Tano, the formation of ACR stems from a widely acknowledged reality: despite its abundant human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with significant hurdles. These include the escalating cost of living, rampant youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, inadequacies in public services, and deepening social divisions.
As a left-leaning political movement, ACR firmly asserts its dedication to placing human well-being at the forefront of its agenda. Its overarching vision is to cultivate a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, unified, and steadfastly respectful of the rule of law.”
Operating under the slogan, “Tomorrow is decided today,” ACR is committed to championing a style of governance rooted in transparency, constructive dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the national interest. In the long term, the movement aspires to unite the nation’s vibrant forces around a compelling political blueprint, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.
ACR’s leaders outlined the primary pillars of their political platform. These encompass fostering youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational framework, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing the safety of individuals and property, advancing women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, stimulating economic growth, safeguarding the environment, and strengthening national cohesion.
Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s openness to engaging in dialogue with all political and social entities that share its core values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He further assured that particular attention would be directed towards young people, women, workers, economic stakeholders, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The National Executive Secretary also revealed that the movement’s official public launch is slated for August in Cocody. During this pivotal event, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally unveil the movement’s political vision and the key orientations of its comprehensive program.
Leading up to this inaugural ceremony, a series of awareness campaigns, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination committees, and national mobilization and membership drives are planned across the entire territory.
“The time has arrived to embark on a new chapter in our history,” concluded Oxyde Tano, reiterating ACR’s profound ambition to play a crucial role in building a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, more robust, and more prosperous.”
