The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a special reception in Rabat on July 14th to mark France’s National Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized the strengthening bilateral partnership, highlighting collaborative efforts shaping the future between the two nations.
«From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—we’re not just discussing the future; we’re actively building it, day by day,» the ambassador stated, joined by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.
Lalliot underscored the depth of the Morocco-France partnership, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, which reaffirmed France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. «Our diplomatic teams work in tandem to uphold core principles of the international order and multilateral organizations,» he noted.
The ambassador also highlighted France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French businesses playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, he outlined shared priorities: «addressing global challenges collaboratively, reinforcing security, leveraging economic sectors of tomorrow, and nurturing deeper societal ties—especially among our young people, who embody the future of this relationship.»
Lalliot closed by celebrating the «profound human connection» between the French and Moroccan peoples, strengthened by the dynamic contributions of their diasporas.
