FRMF gets may 7 deadline to respond in 2025 afcon final appeal

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has until May 7 to submit its formal defense to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) in the ongoing legal dispute surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. This deadline marks the initial legal window granted to the federation following the Senegalese Football Federation’s (FSF) appeal against both the FRMF and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

On March 25, the TAS confirmed receipt of the FSF’s appeal, which challenges the CAF’s March 17 decision upholding Senegal’s forfeited victory in the final. Procedural rules dictate that the appellant (the FSF) has 20 days to file its appeal brief, after which the respondents (FRMF and CAF) receive an equivalent period to respond. However, the FSF’s request for a stay of proceedings has delayed the establishment of a definitive timeline or hearing date.
