Côte d’Ivoire strengthens ties with Rwanda ahead of Basketball Africa League event
The Rwandan capital, Kigali, recently hosted a high-level Ivorian delegation led by Minister of State Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, who was accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Metch Adje Silas. The visit coincided with the first edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Investor Day, where Mr. Adjoumani represented President Alassane Ouattara.
During a meeting with President Paul Kagame on May 22, the Ivorian delegation reinforced the strong bilateral relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Rwanda. The discussion highlighted shared perspectives on Africa’s future, with a focus on youth empowerment and regional integration. Minister Adjoumani conveyed warm greetings from President Ouattara, underscoring the importance of the visit.
In a forward-looking exchange, President Kagame emphasized the transformative potential of the Basketball Africa League. He described the BAL as a catalyst for a new sports-driven economy on the continent, with the capacity to attract investors, generate employment, and nurture African talent. As part of the discussions, President Kagame announced plans for an upcoming state visit to Côte d’Ivoire, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
