Kétou taxi-moto operators in Bénin face mandatory uniform requirement
In Kétou, Bénin, taxi-moto drivers will soon be required to wear official uniforms while on duty. The local municipality is launching a comprehensive enrollment campaign for this new policy, which is designed to enhance public safety, streamline driver identification, and improve the overall organization of urban transport services.

This significant regulation, which encompasses all six arrondissements within the commune, aims to bring greater structure and control to the operations of taxi-moto drivers. According to the city administration, this measure will significantly simplify driver recognition, bolster the safety of passengers, and contribute to a more streamlined and efficient urban transportation network.
To facilitate its implementation, a dedicated enrollment drive is scheduled to take place from July 6 to July 20, 2026. This registration process will be conducted at the administrative secretariats located in each of the various arrondissements. Drivers are required to present a valid form of identification to complete their registration, a crucial step for obtaining the official uniform.
Upon the conclusion of this designated period, only taxi-moto operators who have successfully registered and are correctly attired in the prescribed uniform will be authorized to provide passenger transport services. The municipal authorities have issued a clear warning that any driver failing to comply with this new obligation will face appropriate penalties as outlined by current legislation.
Furthermore, communal leaders are actively encouraging residents and commuters to support this reform by consciously choosing to ride with officially identified drivers. The responsibility for ensuring the effective adherence to this new directive has been assigned to arrondissement chiefs, recognized associations of taxi-moto drivers, and various security agencies.
