Manchester City and Nottingham Forest are moving closer to a deal for Elliot Anderson. The English midfielder wants to join the Sky Blues, and City may have to pay around €150m to secure his signature.
Manchester City is preparing to make a massive financial commitment. The northwest England club holds the advantage in the race for Anderson and is nearing an agreement with Nottingham Forest to bring in the 11-cap England international. Though City’s latest offer of nearly €140m was rejected by Forest, the two clubs are converging on the asking price set at approximately €150m. This sale would provide a significant boost for Nottingham Forest, who finished 16th in the Premier League last season.
City also benefits from Anderson’s strong desire to move to the Etihad. The 23-year-old has made clear his wish to join Pep Guardiola’s side. If the transfer goes through at the rumoured fee, it would rank among the most expensive in football history — potentially in the top five or even top three. Should the total exceed €140m, Anderson would become the most expensive midfielder ever and could break the Premier League record set by Liverpool when they signed Alexander Isak for €150m.
