The National Assembly will convene in extraordinary session this Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM, as confirmed by the official decree signed by Assembly President Ousmane Sonko. This session, called under strict constitutional provisions, will follow a predetermined agenda that cannot be altered once proceedings begin.

According to the bureau’s decree (reference number 192), lawmakers will examine three key draft laws: the Draft Labor Code (Bill No. 15/2026), the Draft Social Security Code (Bill No. 16/2026), and the Draft Law on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection and Digital Security (Bill No. 25/2026). Additionally, two legislative proposals will be on the table: one to amend Article 37 of the Constitution (Proposal No. 33/2026) and another concerning the legal framework for special credits (Proposal No. 34/2026).

Six parliamentary inquiry commissions to be ratified

The extraordinary session will also focus on ratifying six parliamentary inquiry commissions targeting sensitive national issues:

• Severe irregularities in land management across various housing developments and maritime public domains;
• Suspicious property sales from the State’s built heritage to private individuals;
• Government utilization of financial mechanisms like TRS;
• Financial discrepancies in the “One Student, One Laptop” program administered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation since 2017, with cumulative commitments reaching approximately 48 billion CFA francs;
• Revenue losses and management of tax exemptions;
• Licensing conditions and renewal processes for fishing permits.

The decree explicitly states that the session will conclude immediately after addressing this agenda, with no modifications permitted once proceedings commence, in accordance with the Assembly’s internal regulations.
