Chad media training alliance boosts journalism standards

N’Djamena — A landmark collaboration between Chad’s leading journalism institution and media association is set to transform the nation’s media landscape. The Institut Supérieur du Journalisme et de la Communication du Tchad (ISJCT) and the Association des Médias en Ligne du Tchad (AMET) have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at elevating professional standards across the sector.

Bridging academic excellence with industry practice

Signed in N’Djamena, this agreement establishes a robust framework for collaboration between academic training and real-world media operations. The partnership will enable ISJCT students to gain hands-on experience through internships within AMET member outlets, creating direct pathways from classroom to career.

Continuous growth for media professionals

The collaboration introduces a comprehensive professional development program targeting journalists, editors, newsroom managers, and media executives. Training modules will cover cutting-edge topics including digital journalism techniques, verification methods, newsroom management, media business models, artificial intelligence applications, ethical standards, journalist safety protocols, and other pressing industry challenges.

Industry voices welcome the initiative

Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, ISJCT project representative, emphasized the critical nature of this alliance: « No journalism school can thrive in isolation from industry realities. Professional media houses serve as our pedagogical partners, practical training grounds, and future employers for our graduates. »

Bello Bakary Mana, AMET president, expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting its dual benefits: « This partnership empowers news organizations to shape the next generation of journalists while providing current professionals with valuable upskilling opportunities. With this superior institute, excellence in media training is within reach. »

Building a center of media excellence

Supported by international development partners including Swiss Cooperation, GIZ, and DW Akademie through the MEDEV NGO, the ISJCT is poised to welcome its first cohort of students in October 2026. The institution aims to establish itself as a premier hub for initial training, research, innovation, and professional development across journalism, communication, and media management disciplines.
