Ousmane Sonko advocates for a united and sovereign Africa during the 85th UPA session in Dakar
The Speaker of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, extended a warm welcome to delegates from across Africa gathered in Dakar for the 85th session of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) Executive Committee, held on June 3 and 4, 2026.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Sonko expressed profound joy and pride in hosting representatives from African parliaments in the heart of Dakar. He conveyed heartfelt fraternal greetings and welcome wishes to participants hailing from multiple African nations, reaffirming Senegal’s commitment to fostering continental solidarity.

Ousmane Sonko reiterated his unwavering dedication to the Pan-African ideal, asserting that Africa’s future must be shaped by Africans themselves.
