On Monday in Rabat, the director of Unesco’s regional bureau for the Maghreb, Charaf Ahmimed, praised the scientific leadership of the National Institute of Agronomic Research (Inra) in safeguarding Morocco’s genetic heritage and biodiversity. The recognition came during a ceremony highlighting Inra’s efforts to conserve the country’s unique plant genetic resources. Ahmimed emphasised that such work is vital for food security and ecological resilience, noting that Morocco’s agrobiodiversity is a global asset that must be protected for future generations.
