Ziguinchor leader appeals for calm between President Faye and PM Sonko

During a recent address, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara observed that Senegal is currently navigating through a challenging period, advocating for a nationwide embrace of peace and resilience.

“We are witnessing critical situations, a crisis unfolding at the highest echelons of the state,” he asserted. “Our national leaders must be afforded the necessary time to collaborate and reach mutual understanding.”

The speaker underscored the imperative for the two leading figures of the executive branch to adopt a resilient stance, a posture he deemed crucial for safeguarding the nation’s stability.

“Both the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister must demonstrate resilience. They should internalize the principles associated with the International Day of Peace to guide Senegal towards its most favorable path,” he further elaborated.

The current political climate, according to Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara, is generating considerable apprehension among the Senegalese populace.

“What we are experiencing and what is being reported does not instill confidence,” he stated. “The people of Senegal are fearful. We do not wish for our nation to endure such high-level governmental instability.”

Ultimately, he issued a direct plea to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, urging them to prioritize dialogue and reconciliation for the overarching welfare of the country.
