Akere Muna praises Pope Leo XIV’s appointment of Andrew Nkea Fuanya

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya as a member of the Section for the First Evangelization and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelization. This decision has drawn praise from Akere Muna.

Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been elevated by Pope Leo XIV. The prelate now serves on the Section for the First Evangelization and New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelization. His responsibilities include assisting the Holy See in supporting the growth of young churches and guiding global missionary efforts.

Akere Muna, a prominent figure in Cameroonian civil society, has welcomed the appointment. The lawyer described it as a deep recognition of Archbishop Nkea’s pastoral wisdom, tireless service, and unwavering dedication to the Church. He added that it also powerfully reflects the light Nkea continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church.

“I am convinced that in this new mission, he will continue to serve with the same courage, clarity, and fatherly compassion that have marked his ministry over the years,” Muna wrote. Archbishop Andrew Nkea was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda in 2019. He was elected president of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon on April 30, 2022, and has been a key player in peace dialogues in regions affected by crisis.
