Lens-PSG clash: why the Ligue 1 showdown won’t air on Ligue 1+

MD

The clash that could crown Paris Saint-Germain champions for the 14th time in Ligue 1 is finally here. Luis Enrique’s side steps onto the field at Bollaert-Delelis Stadium this Wednesday at 9 PM, aiming to secure the title before the season’s final whistle. A PSG victory would end their suspense before the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30.

Fans hoping to watch the high-stakes Lens vs PSG showdown live on Ligue 1+ will need to tune in to beIN Sports instead.

Match originally slated for beIN Sports’ broadcast slot

The league leaders and their runners-up were initially scheduled to face off on Saturday, April 11, at 5:15 PM—right in beIN Sports’ designated Ligue 1 broadcast window. PSG, however, were juggling a packed schedule with Champions League quarterfinal matches against Liverpool on April 8 and 14, plus two away trips in under a week. The club requested a postponement, and the Ligue de Football Professionnel approved the shift to May 13.

Despite the date change, beIN Sports retained the broadcast rights as originally assigned, leaving Ligue 1+ subscribers without access to the match.

A PSG win on Wednesday would seal their 14th league title. Otherwise, they’ll have to wait until the final matchday against Paris FC, while Lens faces Lyon. With a six-point lead already secured, the suspense is nearly over for the Parisians.
