Liverpool leads race for Yan Diomande as PSG baulks at €120m fee

After an outstanding debut season with RB Leipzig, Yan Diomande has drawn interest from both Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. However, it is the Premier League side that appears to be in pole position, with a reported agreement already in place between the player and the English club, while the Ligue 1 champions have balked at the €120 million asking price demanded by the Bundesliga outfit.

The 19-year-old winger made an immediate impact in his first season at RB Leipzig, recording 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions. He then carried that form into the 2026 World Cup, impressing for Côte d’Ivoire in their 1-0 win over Ecuador. After the match, the youngster was quizzed about his future amid strong links to PSG and Liverpool.

« I arrive in the US and they tell me he’s going to sign for Liverpool »

« My agents are handling everything, and I’m focused on the World Cup. That’s the priority. It’s not every day, it’s every four years, so I’m making the most of it. The rest, we’ll see », Yan Diomande said. Even Côte d’Ivoire coach Emerse Faé was not spared questions on the matter: « When we were in France for the preparation, journalists said he would sign for PSG. Now, I arrive in the US and they tell me he’s going to sign for Liverpool. We’ll see. I think he’s very focused on the World Cup first, and after that he’ll make the best decision for the rest of his career. »

PSG abandons Diomande pursuit

In the battle between PSG and Liverpool, the Reds have reportedly emerged victorious. The English club has already reached an agreement with the Ivorian international, who has 12 caps, while Parisian officials have decided not to pursue the deal further. The capital club was put off by RB Leipzig’s demand, which is understood to be in the region of €120 million for Yan Diomande’s transfer.
