The day after President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema delivered his State of the Nation address, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou, leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), shared his insights in an exclusive interview. As a former Vice President of Gabon, he highlighted the speech’s emphasis on action, responsibility, and mindset shifts. In his view, the Head of State renewed his commitment to the Gabonese people by urging citizens to take charge of their future and reclaim the nation’s economic levers.
Maganga Moussavou praised the President’s vision, particularly the opportunities designed for the youth. He commended the initiatives introduced by the Gabonese Trade and Entrepreneurship Bank (BCEG), calling them vital tools to foster private initiative and economic empowerment. « I fully align with the President’s vision, » he stated, while expressing hope that the pledged measures would translate into tangible benefits for the population.
Critical backing for national progress
While acknowledging the monumental challenges ahead, the PSD leader recognized the complexity of the President’s mission amid Gabon’s high expectations. Still, he viewed the reforms launched since August 30, 2023, as a solid foundation for a fresh momentum in the country. For him, only collective mobilization can overcome the economic, social, and institutional hurdles Gabon faces.
Describing himself as a « pragmatic opponent, » Maganga Moussavou reaffirmed his willingness to support any initiative serving the public good. « In his mission, he can count on me, » he declared, emphasizing his readiness to contribute his experience to the nation’s progress. Moving beyond political divides, he called for responsible cooperation to drive development and meet the Gabonese people’s aspirations.
