Malian military secures safe passage for 940 supply trucks to Bamako

A massive logistical operation concluded successfully as 940 civilian supply trucks reached Bamako under the protection of the Malian army. The mission, which spanned from June 23 to June 29, ensured the safe transit of essential goods along the critical KaïsSandariDiémaBamako axis.

The operation was executed in stages. Initially, military units escorted 540 vehicles from Kaïs to Sandari. As the convoy progressed, a secondary force arriving from Diéma provided additional support. During the journey, several vehicles that had been stranded on the road were integrated into the group, bringing the final tally to 940 trucks before they proceeded toward the capital.

The convoy reached its destination without any major security incidents, successfully navigating several key towns along this vital corridor. This successful delivery comes at a time when road safety concerns have been heightened and Bamako has faced persistent challenges with fuel supplies.

The route connecting Kayes to Bamako remains one of the most important economic lifelines for the country. As a primary link to western Mali and neighboring Sénégal and Mauritanie, it is the main artery for transporting petroleum products, food supplies, industrial equipment, and various commercial goods essential for the national market.
