Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, convened with Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, on Tuesday in Rabat. Their discussions focused on strengthening coordination in air navigation between the two nations.
This significant meeting, held on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in Morocco, saw both delegations explore strategies to reinforce air navigation safety and security. They also sought innovative ways to expand their bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.
Kayouh underscored the excellent historical rapport between Morocco and Kuwait during the talks. A primary agenda item was the revitalization of the direct air route connecting Kuwait and Casablanca. He affirmed Royal Air Maroc’s dedication to promptly resuming this service once its new fleet of long-haul aircraft is fully integrated.
For his part, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah highlighted that the conversations also encompassed the projected increase in air traffic between Kuwait and Morocco. This anticipation is largely driven by the upcoming 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. Both countries aim to effectively manage the expected surge in tourist arrivals from the Gulf region and other international destinations.
The session concluded with the election of new members to the Organization’s principal bodies for the 2026-2028 term, including the General Assembly, Executive Council, and various technical committees. Additionally, Khalid Cherkaoui was appointed as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
