Morocco deepens strategic cooperation with Bahrain and Jordan in Amman

Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, has engaged in a series of significant diplomatic talks in Amman with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan.

Held on the sidelines of the League of Arab States summit, these meetings were pivotal in reinforcing bilateral alliances and addressing the security challenges currently affecting the region.

Strengthening partnership and stability with Bahrain

During discussions with the Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the conversation focused on coordinating efforts to ensure peace and stability across the Arab world.

The two diplomats examined the evolution of the deep historical ties connecting Rabat and Manama, exploring fresh avenues for collaboration in sectors of mutual interest, as guided by Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Present at this working session were Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, and the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, along with the Director of Maghreb Affairs at the ministry, Khalid Bencheikh.

Upcoming Joint Commission with Jordan

In a separate meeting, Mr. Bourita conferred with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and head of diplomacy, Ayman Safadi. The central theme of their dialogue was the preparation for the sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian High Joint Commission, scheduled for later this year. Both ministers acknowledged the need to craft an ambitious agenda to elevate their bilateral relations to a superior strategic level.

With both Jordan and Bahrain, the Moroccan representative highlighted a consensus on the pressing need to enhance political consultation mechanisms to navigate the current complex geopolitical environment.

Engagements within the Arab League

These bilateral meetings followed Mr. Bourita’s attendance at the consultative meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers and the 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, reaffirming Morocco’s dynamic role in the region’s multilateral dialogue.
