Rabat to host 15th Morocco-France high-level meeting this thursday

This Thursday, July 16, Rabat becomes the focal point of bilateral cooperation as Moroccan and French officials gather for the fifteenth session of the high-level meeting between the two nations. The event underscores the deepening ties that define the exceptional partnership between Morocco and France, led by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to an official statement from the Moroccan government, the discussions will span critical areas of collaboration, reflecting the shared vision for joint progress and mutual growth. Speaking to attendees in Rabat, French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighted the breadth of the alliance, referencing recent visits to cities like Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune, where he inaugurated the first Alliance Française in the latter.

“In Rabat, as in every Moroccan city, we are not merely discussing the future—we are actively building it, day by day,” Ambassador Lalliot remarked during the event, joined by Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada.

The diplomat also referenced a pivotal moment in the partnership: President Macron’s 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, in which France reaffirmed its stance that the future of the Sahara must align with Morocco’s sovereignty.

France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer was another key point, with Ambassador Lalliot emphasizing the decades-long contributions of French enterprises to Morocco’s industrial development.

Key priorities for the high-level talks

Looking ahead, the leaders are set to address three core priorities:

  • Addressing global challenges together: Strengthening joint strategies to tackle international crises and enhance regional security.
  • Boosting economic sectors of tomorrow: Collaborating to drive innovation and growth in industries set to shape both nations’ economies.
  • Fostering people-to-people connections: Deepening ties between societies, particularly among the youth, who represent the future of Moroccan-French relations.
